우리는 사랑의 증인이에요
We are the Proof of Love
마더 테레사의 글 중에 이런 이야기가 있다.
어느 날 켈커타 뒷길을 걷다가, 한 가정에서 돌보기에는 너무 심한 중증 장애인 아이를 보았다. 그 아이를 센터에서 돌보기로 하고 그 어머니를 만났다. 그 어머니는 눈물을 글썽이며, “신의 뜻이라면 별 수 없지만, 이 아이는 우리 집의 삶의 의미랍니다. 우리 모두는 이 아이를 사랑하고 보살피기 위해 돈도 벌고, 일도 하고, 재미있는 이야기도 나눈답니다.” 라고 말했다. 테레사 수녀는 ‘사랑’에 대해서 새로운 깨달음을 얻었다고 했다.
Mother Theresa wrote. 'One day, on strolling, I ran into a serious disabled child. His situation was so serious for a family to take care of that we decided to send him in a facility. When I met the child's mother, she said, full of tears in her eyes. 'If it's God's will, we'll agree. However, this child is the meaning of our family and our life. All of us make money, work, share interesting stories to love and take care of this child.' It gave me a new awareness about love.''
“우리는 왜 그림을 그릴까?”
“우리는 왜 밥을 먹을까?”
“우리는 왜 살까?” 라는 질문을 자기 자신에게 던져보지 않은 사람은 없을 것이다.
기독교인들은 그 질문에, “하나님의 영광을 위해서-”라고 너무 쉽게 대답을 한다. 그렇게 배우고 주입된 때문이리라. 그러나 그들은 “하나님의 영광”을 위해서 우리가 쓰임 받을 때, 우리에게 주어지는 천국의 희락과 참 평강을 누리지 못하는 경우가 많다.
"Why do we paint?" "Why do we eat?" "Why do we live?"
Everybody asks. Without hesitation, Christians answer 'for the glory of God!'. We've been taught and brainwashed to answer this way. However, very often, we don't know the glee and comfort of the Heaven when we are called and used for the glory of God.
내가 탁용준 형제를 처음 보았던 1998년, 18년 전 그 때, 휠체어를 타고 있는 그의 얼굴은 미소가 가득 담긴 표정이었다. 당시 미술인 선교회의 사무국장을 맡고 있었던, 정 두옥 자매를 목동의 수레바퀴 미술 모임인 ‘그림사랑‘에 지도교수로 보냈던 인연으로. 대한민국 기독교 미술 대전에 입선을 했던 그를 이화여대 미술관에서 만났던 것이다. 그 옆에는 너무나 아름다운 그의 아내가 서 있었다. 젊은 부부는 전혀 그림자가 없는 표정이었다. 그 후 거의 매년 그들을 만나면서 살아왔다. 한국 미술인 선교회에서 주최하는 여러 전시회에 그는 성실하게 작품을 출품해 주었다. 그가 예기치 않은 사고로 신혼의 단꿈이 무르익기도 전에 중증 장애인의 삶을 시작하게 되었으며, 그 후 삶의 발자취에 대해 그의 책자와 간증을 통해 들었지만, 아직도 내 마음 한 구석에는 그를 향한 동정심과 아픈 마음 때문에 무슨 말을, 어떻게 하며 다가가야 할지 몰라, 멀리서 바라보기만 했다.
I met him first in Ewha University gallery in 1998 because He won a prize in Korea Christianity Art Competition, I saw him full of smile in a wheelchair. Beside him was his beautiful wife. The young couple was so bright. I had sent Mrs. Doo Ok Jung who, then, was the secretary general of Christian Art Mission, to a painting class, 'Suraebaqui (meaning Wheel)' in Mok dong with a mission of teaching the members in the class.
Since then, I have met them almost every year. He has sincerely participated in the various art competitions sponsored by the Korea Christian Art Mission. An accident happened during his early marriage life and his life as a severely disabled person began. Although I have known his life through his books and testimony, I, who felt strong sympathy about him, didn't know how to talk to him and how to get closer to him.
지금 나는 파킨슨씨 병 16년 차인 남편을 도우며 살고 있다. 몸을 자유롭게 쓸 수 없는 남편을 돌보며 때로 너무 지칠 때가 있다. 그럴 때 이상하게 탁용준 형제와 그의 아름다운 아내가 떠오르곤 한다. 그리고 나는 새 힘을 얻는다. 너무 지쳐서 그림을 집어 치울까 생각하다가, 탁용준 형제를 떠올리며, 나는 다시 붓을 잡는다. 내 주변의 친지들은 나를 보면서, 곤한 삶의 길에서 새 힘을 받는다고 이야기해 주곤 한다. 이 삶의 순례 길에서, 우리는 소망이며, 찬란한 꿈의 결정인 저 천국의 종점에 이를 때까지, 우리는 이렇게 서로 서로 힘을 보태주며 격려하며 살아가는 것이 진실로 아름답다는 생각을 한다.
I am living with my husband who has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for 16 years. I sometimes feel exhausted because he can't manage his routine without my help. Strange enough, I think of Young Jun Tak and his beautiful wife when life is harsh to me. And I revive. Whenever I feel like I quit painting, exhausted, I think of him and grab my brush again. My acquaintances tell me that they get new energy from me in their hard life. On this life journey. until we arrive at the Heaven, which is our wish and brilliant dream, we help and encourage each other. I think that is beautiful.
이번에 탁 용준 형제는, ‘사랑’이라는 주제로 45점의 그림을 준비해서 전시회와 책자를 만든다고 한다. 작년에 만든 ‘행복’이라는 책을 이어 두 번째 선포인 것 같다. 때때로 ‘행복’을 보며, 나는 그때마다 미소를 지을 수밖에 없었다. “ 참 아름다운 사람이야!”, “이렇게 때 묻지 않고 남아 있을 수 있는 것은 그가 휠체어 장애인이기 때문인지 몰라” 라는 것이 나의 느낌이다. 이번에 그는 사랑을, ‘거룩한 사랑’, ‘위대한 사랑-어머니’, ‘설레는 사랑- 내 사랑’이라는 세 가지 관점에서 풀어내려고 한다. 대략 어떤 이야기를 할 것인지 짐작이 간다. 그런데 오십이 넘은 그가 아직도 ‘설레인 사랑- 내 사랑’이라는 고백을 할 수 있는 것도 그가 꿈꾸는 휠체어 장애인이기 때문인지도 모른다.
This exhibition is composed of 45 works and a book under the theme of 'love'. Last year, he published the book, 'Happiness'. I read the book now and then, and I smile. "He is so beautiful!" "Is he innocent because he's been sitting in the wheelchair?" I say to myself.
This exhibition has three categories of love; Glorious Love, Great Love-Mother, Heart Fluttering Love-My Love. He still dreams of heart fluttering love now that he is over his 50's. Is it because he has been stuck and dreaming in his wheelchair?
나는 외출도 거의 못하고 남편을 돌보며 지내는데 요즘 부쩍, 하나님의 크고 간절한 사랑이 나에게 쏟아지고 있는 것을 느낄 때가 있다. 친구들은 나에게 칠십 넘은 할머니가 표정이 맑고 곱다고 칭찬을 한다. 아마 집안에 갇혀서, 남편과 하나님의 뜻과, 나의 일인 그림만 생각하고 살아서 그런가 보다. 탁용준 형제와 그의 아내도, 나의 복을 함께 누리고 있는 선택된 사람들인 셈이다.
I stay at home only taking care of my husband, but these days, I feel God's enormous love more than ever. My friends say that I'm lovely and soft. I think that's because I'm stuck in the house only focusing on my husband, painting and God's will. I may say, Young Jun Tak and his wife and I share the same happiness as selected people.
우리는 주님께 “땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라”고 축복과 부탁을 함께 받은, 하나님의 사람들이다. 우리의 삶 자체가 성령님의 도우심으로, 이 숙제를 잘 풀고 있는 것이라면 더 없이 감사할 뿐이다. ‘사랑’이라는 주제의 ‘그림’과 ‘책자’를 내기 전에 탁용준 형제와 그의 아내 황혜경 자매는 이미 사랑의 증인으로 그들의 삶을 잘 살아 가고 있는 셈이다.
그의 작품과 삶에 축하의 박수를 보낸다.
We are God's people who were blessed and asked to prove God to the end of the world. I do thank that we're doing our job in our life with the help of holy spirit. I think that Young Jun Tak and his wife has been living as proof of love in their lives. Congratulations on his works and life!
